04 Jun Behind the scenes at Cosford Airshow – how Formula Networks kept 6,000 people connected

With the 2025 RAF Cosford Airshow fast approaching, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how Formula Networks supported last year’s event with a full-scale, temporary wireless network.

Held annually at RAF Cosford near Wolverhampton, the airshow attracts over 50,000 visitors in one day – including more than 6,000 traders, VIP guests and staff who rely on secure, high-speed Wi-Fi for contactless payments, communications and access to systems across a large open airfield.

In partnership with Popup Wi-Fi (a brand of P&C Communications), Formula Networks was responsible for designing and deploying the full temporary network in just three days. The system used Starlink satellite broadband, bonded 4G and high-frequency wireless links – all managed through a central cloud dashboard.

The result? A fast, reliable wireless service that supported every part of the event without interruption – and attracted positive feedback from the organisers.

The 2025 event is not far away – and we’ll be providing expanded coverage and capacity.
